FCCM hosted the screening of "The Big Durian" at Black Box, Publika Shopping Gallery, on September 25. Director Amir Muhammad was on hand after the screening to answer questions from FCCM members and guests.
"The Big Durian" was the first Malaysian movie to be shown at the Sundance Film Festival. The documentary, which was released in 2003, examines a wide array of ethnic, religious and political divisions in modern Malaysia -- some of which are still apparent today.
The discussion after the movie focused on what has -- and hasn't -- changed.
